The brief

Readers come to the site from social posts, talk-show appearances, Rokomari bookshop listings and search. They should leave knowing the author's voice, and either buy the latest book, watch an interview or subscribe.

The audience reads English and Bengali, and after launch the content is kept up to date by the author, not by a developer.

What I built

  • The public site: home, books and book pages, talks, journal and posts, about, and search.
  • An admin for books, talks, posts, the author profile, site settings and newsletter subscribers, with CSV export.
  • An API with public, sign-in and admin routes, image uploads and input validation.
  • Per-page metadata, a sitemap, robots.txt and structured data for every public page.

Key decisions

Edits are live in seconds

Every admin save refreshes the changed page on demand. A timed refresh is only the safety net.

Two languages side by side

Instead of a language switch, English and Bengali sit together, set in Anek Latin, Anek Bangla and Tiro Bangla so both scripts feel like one design.

Tests that never touch real data

The API tests run against an in-memory PostgreSQL database, so they can run anywhere without touching real content.
